The Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Northeast Florida, Inc. will host Trot For Tots today,a downtown march to raise awareness about Northeast Florida’s high infant mortality rate.  Northeast Florida has one of the highest infant mortality rates in the US: about 11 deaths per 1,000 live births.

The chief beneficiary of this event is Cribs for Kids, a national crib giveaway program promoting safe sleep for newborns.

Walk with mothers and their children at 9am. The trot will begin at the historic Mt. Zion AME church at the intersection for Newman and Beaver streets and end at Hemming Plaza. Children will be treated to games at the end of the event.

This four week group at the Women’s Center of Jacksonville will focus on the range of emotions that may occur during the breast cancer survivor journey. The worskshop will use discussion, art, writing and other forms of expression. The cost is $20.
