Consider yourself a hipster? Check your tags for Erin Healy’s name. As the featured designer of last month’s Up and Cummers’ Fashion Forward show, the former special education teacher and mother of three is quickly becoming our city’s most talked about designer. Her creations are clean, classic and easily wearable, which is why you’ll find everyone donning them—including America’s Next Top Model, Whitney Thompson. Born and raised in Jacksonville, Erin started her design career at six years old, when she cut up her elementary wardrobe and recreated her outfits with the aid of her Bedazzler. In high school, she sewed her friends’ prom dresses. Her designs are now available in local boutiques. Just his month she opened a showroom at A'propos in SawgrassVillage. “I thought, I’m just going to take this money I’ve saved and go for it,” she says.
