Lori Covell is a survivor.

When Lori was diagnosed with breast cancer three years ago, her first thought was, “Oh my God, am I going to die from this?” Her entire life was put on hold.  Suddenly she didn’t want to spend money or make major decisions. She became depressed. Terrified, she contacted the Women’s Center of Jacksonville under the advice of her healthcare provider, and began attending Bosom Buddies, a breast cancer support group. After a several surgeries, chemotherapy, and emotional and financial devastation, Lori beat breast cancer. That April she went through massage training to treat lymphodema—a major side affect of breast cancer patients who have the common surgery of lymph node removal. Lori was determined to put her life back on track, and to help others through breast cancer treatment. “I got a second chance,” she says. Nike, the goddess of Victory, couldn’t have made more of a comeback herself.
