I try not to talk too much about my own luck because I think I might be jinxed. That could be a magnificent case of OCD or just superstition—whatever you’d like to call it. But talking about other women’s luck doesn’t bother me a bit, especially since I am of the opinion that lucky women are those that meet their opportunities prepared. In other words, they probably spend a lifetime working their butts off to get what they deserve. Those women should be celebrated and rewarded with more luck, so in this issue I’ve asked five women about the chances they took, the challenges they faced, and how they triumphed. It seems to me that the luckiest women have another common thread besides willpower: a strong sense of reality. While they are led by their hearts to pursue their passions, it’s their minds that keep them grounded. Luck is about chances—which ones you get, and which ones you take.
