Ever wanted to sit in front of the tube instead of going grocery shopping? Marla Ball knows you have. So she and Colleen Dugan founded Grocery Girls to do your shopping for you. After graduating with a child development degree from the University of Georgia, 23 year old Marla moved to Jacksonville with her friend, planning to start a business. “It was a major challenge moving to a new city and only knowing each other,” she says. But entrepreneurship is in her blood—her father is an entrepreneur as well. “It’s too hard being told what to do and how to do it.” Her independence paid off. “I feel I’ve grown personally from throwing myself out there,” she says. Marla grew up in Toronto, moving to Florida when she turned twelve. “I liked knowing that I could start fresh. When you get out of your comfort zone you do great things,” says Marla.
