Friday the 13th

Friday, June, 13, 2008

I happen to be really superstitious. When I was 12, I got my first period on Friday the 13th. I don’t think Friday the 13ths are necessarily bad (it’s Friday, afterall!) it’s just that prominent events seem more prominent when you hone in on them with a holiday.

Which leads me to the conclusion that we should create more holidays. Like, maybe instead of a bad luck day like Friday the 13th, we should create a good luck day to counteract it--like Saturday July 8th. I love Saturdays and I was supposed to be born on July 8th, but slept in until the 16th. (Nice plug for my b-day there,eh?) So it was a pretty lucky day for my mom, too, because she also got to sleep in. Anyway, what I’m saying is, every time July 8th rolls around, maybe we’ll identify prominent events with good luck and become more positive because of it. What do you think? And how do I go about creating a public holiday?
