“I find more joy in paintings where life and spirit come through,” says Reet London, owner and founder of European Art Garage.
Reet was born in Estonia, and moved to Florida because she wanted to pursue art somewhere warmer. In Estonia, which sits at the same latitude as Alaska, she focused her paintings on churches and her town’s architecture.
In Jacksonville, Reet paints with brighter colors. “Your art reflects your surroundings. You can draw inspiration from anything,” she says.
She graduated from the University of North Florida with a degree in Fine Arts and Graphic Design, and opened European Art Garage in 2002. “I thought if other people could sell my art that I could, too.”
In her gallery she features student work alongside her own paintings, which heavily involve portraits, flowers, and landscapes. She also teaches painting to both children and adults.
