Adam Papas, Juan Diaz, and Ricky Caplin can throw a classy party. They are three of the fourteen Guys with Ties of Jacksonville, a philanthropic organization founded in January devoted to helping local charities fundraise through events. These gentlemen are responsible for The White Party in August, benefiting the Donna Hicken Foundation, an organization that helps women through financial struggles associated with breast cancer treatment. It was only their first event and it attracted over 600 party-going do-gooders. By throwing extravagant events, Guys with Ties feel that they can encourage the 20 through 30-something crowd to help out in the community. “Many events cater to the fifty-plus crowd, and they’re kind of boring,” says Adam. The guys plan on organizing quarterly events, but they have their own careers in addition to being a part of Guys with Ties. “It’s about tying the community together,” says Adam.
Their favorite thing about reading skirt!?: No one takes themselves too seriously. It’s uninhibited.
