It's fun to be a feminist...

Thursday, July, 3, 2008

In celebration of our F-word issue, I’d like to share some reasons of why I loooove being a feminist. Share some of your own!

~Sara

It’s fun to be a feminist because...

1) Treating everyone as equals makes you a good person (I think). And if you’re treating others as you’d like to be treated and they play by that rule, too, you’ve got a good thing going.

2) Labels that start with an “F” are really fun groups to be in. We’re wilder on this side.

3) Standing up for yourself and other women will make you and other women feel awesome.

4) You can choose whatever you want and feel justified, because it’s your choice to make, dammit.

5) We sisters stick together--and women make up more than half the world. That’s a lot of sisters backing your ass up, girl.

6) You can be everything you want to be, and that doesn’t mean you have to be everything to everyone. You can just be yourself and that is totally acceptable, because it’s what you want.

7) Sticking up for yourself is not considered selfish, but necessary.

8) Being bold and aggressive and anything considered to be a “masculine” is cool. Being “feminine” is cool, too. Being anything you want is pretty much cool. (How cool!)

9) You can wear whatever you want when you’re a feminist. (You can wear whatever you want when you’re not a feminist, too, but feminists recognize that you can wear whatever you want and therein lies the special part of being cognisant of your choices and why you make them.)

That’s all for now, gimme more!
