Hangin' Out at The Momerama

Monday, July, 14, 2008

Welcome to Skirt! Jacksonville’s newest blog – Hangin’ Out at The Momerama.

What is The Momerama you ask?  The Momerama is that strange and wonderful place that women find themselves when they become mothers.

I have been hangin’ out here for a little over eight years now.  I have found it to be a place filled with reward and challenges, laughter and tears, lots of love and hugs, temper tantrums and trade-offs.  But it has always been an adventure!

My time at The Momerama has been....um....diverse.  I have opted out, opted in, worked as a freelance writer (shameless plug here – pick up a copy of my new book, Zen and the Art of Housekeeping, at a bookstore near you or at your favorite online retailer!), explored several entrepreneurial opportunities, and more.  I have criss crossed the country with my husband and our two children in tow, living in Mississippi, Louisiana, Delaware, Pennsylvania and Texas, to name a few.  As a former advertising sales trainer, I traveled from the northernmost tip of Washington state to the southermost tip of Florida, and stopped at all points in between.  I am a devoted wife and mother of two (an eight and a four-year-old that I’m certain will grace the cyber pages of this blog many times in the future).  I am a stepmother, a sister, a daughter and a friend.

I feel very strongly that motherhood does not have to make you matronly.  That a committment to your family and a committment to yourself do not have to be mutually exclusive concepts.  And that being a woman in today’s world can and should be enriched by your experiences as a mother if you approach it with the right attitude.

I look forward to sharing my journey with you and I hope you will share yours with me as well.
