The True Confessions Issue
Remember when we were young girls, and we used to bond by secrets? Friendship carved out of those secrets sealed us to our closest companions. Often, after we have grown, those secrets are used as tools to quantify our character, showing up in manipulative or careless hands. As a result, the greater truth sometimes slips farther away. But the thoughts that we keep hidden are eventually told—to ourselves, our closest friends, or to anyone who will listen—and nothing feels better than a confession. In this issue, you will be allowed into the private worlds of several women who either work everyday to bring truth to others, or work to surface their own secrets to a receptive and caring audience. As women, we have secrets in our lives that sometimes can only be fully understood by other women. It’s possible that every woman has a secret, untold life. And like a childhood friend, we should be there to support and listen. Hopefully this issue will spur something inside that encourages a raw and candid conversation.
