Women's Equality Day blogging

Monday, August, 25, 2008
Tomorrow is “Women’s Equality Day” – which actually isn’t a celebration of women’s equality so much as marking the day when women finally got the right to vote – something we just barely got.  It’s also our primary, which seems like a really fitting time to exercise that hard won right by going out and voting for some awesome women running for office.   For example, Mia Jones – fantastic woman running for state house.  My representative is in the race again, but is so fabulous no one is running against her – so here’s a shout out for Representative Audrey Gibson, who sponsored the prevention first act this past legislative session and is always on the right side of women’s rights.  There’s lots of other candidates whose races I’ve been following, but these are two women who’ve impressed me a lot.  Fingers crossed, we’ll see lots more women in office after this election and November.
